Parental Advisory:  Do Not Name Your Children After These Country Music Superstars!

Because of the recent and disturbing rise in popularity of the following names for girls, Toad a la Mode feels compelled to caution parents that these are not real names, being instead manufactured in the depths of steel-and-glass highrise building in downtown Nashville for the purpose of promoting the careers of lithe young Country-Western singers.  Please do not apply them to your own offspring:

  • Shania
  • Wynonna
  • Naomi
  • Reba
  • Any name spelled with a "K" that is normally spelled with a "C" (e.g., Kassidy, Kourtney, etc.)
  • The following names for boys, while not synthetic in origin, are best avoided as well, for reasons we feel are self-evident:

  • Tennessee Ernie Ford
  • Chad Brock
  • Anybody Scruggs
  • Hank Williams, Jr.

  •

Thank you.  We invite you to return your attention to the Toad a la Mode archive.
